The International Alliance Of Martial Arts Schools
The International Alliance Of Martial Arts Schools is a virtual student support system driven by the co-operation of Martial Arts schools worldwide. The IAOMAS network allows all martial artists to continue to train wherever and whenever they travel. Simply, the IAOMAS has an online list of schools that have agreed to allow any martial artist FREE training for at least two weeks should they visit a particular area. Should the visiting martial artist be staying in that area longer, they can negotiate directly with the IAOMAS school they are visiting. This one-of-a-kind service is rendered through the generosity of volunteer schools and individuals who take care of a multitude of back end work (which includes the hosting of remote country-level directories) and who appreciate the ideals which the IAOMAS represents.

The IAOMAS is NON-POLITICAL and NON-DENOMINATIONAL. We are a student support network, and our objectives are to improve the value each school brings to their students. We are open-minded, quality-conscious, and like to adopt an open mentality in the practice of martial arts. While IAOMAS was concieved to be a student support group, IAOMAS really is about creating a worldwide community that's welcoming to ideas, to friendship, to diversity, and to the recognition that we all share a passion for the martial arts.

Benefits of Joining

If you have joined a school that is affiliated with the IAOMAS, this affiliation allows members of that school to:

  1. Train for free (for up to two weeks) when travelling to any one of the 400 over IAOMAS-affiliated dojos worldwide.
  2. Cross train with other member schools from different martial disciplines.
  3. Access to an international online network with posters who are ready to share their experiences, knowledge, and friendship with you in a non-hostile and open-minded discussion forum.
  4. Discuss student oriented issues with students with the benefit of a password-protected section.
  5. Have the opportunity to meet visiting instructors from the IAOMAS network.
  6. Meet instructors who seek to share, discuss issues, and learn from other instructors in order to improve their offering and their schools.
  7. Enjoy regional (or online) IAOMAS events with like-minded people.

IAOMAS is sold through our members. Beyond list of benefits above, just spend a short time at our forum and you'll notice that IAOMAS members are down-to-earth, friendly, thinking, and humble. Why is our forum alive with so much positive energy? How is it that we see friendships forming through an online martial arts group? How did a free service grow so quickly? These are all things that you will soon find out.

It is a statement by itself when a club joins the IAOMAS network. For your information, there are many martial arts schools that are not interested in pursuing activities that promote non-denominational cross-training, let alone look out for student benefits. This is not an indication of a lack of quality, but one of organizational mentality.  You can be assured that clubs who belong to the IAOMAS are those that are student-centric, and which understand the benefits of allowing students to explore opportunities and experiences beyond that which you initially signed up for.

We also extend our appreciation and admiration to the instructors at member clubs. Joining the IAOMAS is a credit to their confidence, their belief in quality, and their open-mindedness. The IAOMAS is about promoting a sharing mindset, but the truth is that there are many instructors who are not ready to make themselves transparent to other schools or other students. This is not so with any of the IAOMAS members, and we hope that you will extend the right appreciation and thanks to each individual member who makes this worldwide support system possible.
